It’s up to Brian Boucher, now.
The three-headed monster, or three-headed disaster, that is the Philadelphia Flyers’ goaltending squad, has been the great evening factor between the Sabres and Flyers in the opening round of the playoffs.
Sergie Bobrovsky, Michael Leighton, and Brian Boucher have all seen time in net, and have all failed in their own tragic ways.
Tonight, the Flyers have decided to go with experience – Boucher gets the crease.
Surprisingly, Boucher has better numbers (3-1 record, 2.12 goals-against average, .935 save percentage) in this series than Ryan Miller (3-3, 2.61 GAA, .925 save percentage). Who knew?
“Personally, I feel like I have had a solid series aside from three minutes, so I feel good about my game,” said Boucher after getting the nod from coach Laviolette.
His greatest statistical numbers have come off performances as a relief goalie. Certainly, the Sabres would love to relieve “Boosh” of his duties very early on tonight.
