Paul Gaustad, the Buffalo Sabres’ current master of the faceoff dot, has some nifty hats for sale on his website. The autographed hats are being sold to benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times, a campsite for children with cancer. As of 2010, Camp Good Days had served more than 43,000 campers from 22 states and 25 foreign countries
Proceeds will help not just the Camp istelf, but will also help as the Camp pursues a new, bold venture: on December 2nd, 2010, camp Chairman Gary Mervis announced a new initiative to end cancer by the year 2020. This effort was the result of continued discussions, suggestions, and plans originally set forth in the Camp Good Days’ Cancer Summit, held in 2009. The idea is to get the right resources to the right places, and to jumpstart some otherwise stalled efforts in the fight against the Big C.
Fans of the Sabres or those who already appreciate what this camp has done for WNY, and the world abroad, can join the effort here. The camp is working to compile 1.5 million email addresses in support of the mission, to forward onto slow-moving research communities, Congress, and the White House by the end of 2011.
Go ahead and check out the hats, and the Mission 2020 website.
